Tires are a great invention that has had lots of changes over the mean years since it was first made. Tires have came a long ways from what they once were. Most people buy these because they work good for most anything you will encounter on the road. They are not mud tires but they off some traction and they are not snow tires but they will work on the snow and ice.

The reason all season tires are so popular is because they work all year round. Nobody wants to change tires during the winter and then have to take them off during the summer time. In a lot of areas in the world the climate is fine to use all season tires and you may get snow every now and then that would make you need winter tires.

If you live in a area where it snows a lot then you are going to want to have both all season tires and winter tires. Winter tires are best for the winter not just for getting grip better on snow and ice but for being able to handle the cold better too. The rubbers in winter tires are made to handle the cold better and offer the best traction when the temperatures drop. Most people do not like owning both summer and winter tires because the tires will dry rot before they are used in some cases.

Plus people do not like having to buy two sets of tires. In some cases you will need winter and summer tires but most people won't need them. If you get a lot of snow you could run winter tires year round.

Tires are important in sports cars too. Like for instance porsche tires are made to go fast with. You could not put a regular set of tires on a porsche and then go 170 miles per hour and be safe. Porsche tires are wider and made to be able to grip the road better than most tires so the car can take off fast and stay on the road. Sports cars require special tires so that they can be as fast as they are. You would not want to stomp the pedal on a porsche and only hear tires squeeling. You wan't to take off fast and if you have the right tires then you can do just that.
